Keepcon is a conversation content management system. It allows its clients to get a better and real time understanding of users’ conversations. It is a cloud service that analyzes all written communication with customers and users through digital channels.
Keepcon offers a ticket generator that interacts with user support: every time a claim is made through any communication channel, Keepcon generates a ticket to be followed and managed.


When uqality started to work with Keepcon’s COO Julio Guzmán, he was concerned about the state of disorganization of the company’s QA area. There were some points of disagreement between the organization’s management and the internal QA processes, which caused uncertainty about the entire project and its aims.


Some of the customers found issues that came from publishing versions of the software before testing and enhancing its functionality and quality. In addition, they didn’t include QA practices throughout the entire development process.


Julio understood that the development area didn’t trust the tests made by the QA team, and they finally chose to start regression testing for the whole system.

 

uqality provided a consulting service regarding QA methodologies and best practices. Similar to an audit plan, we proposed process improvements and new management tools to centralize the entire testing process. We improved the test traceability through a tool specifically designed for this purpose, and we trained the in-house QA team to design test cases. With the help of uqality, Keepcon enhanced its development methodologies. At the end of the process, we provided the necessary metrics to measure the results in real time.


But the real success story is that by working together Keppcon’s QA and development teams adopted new methodologies, new tools and more efficient processes, and introduced them from the beginning of the next development cycles.


Thanks to the practices and methodologies that uqality implemented in the QA area, Keepcon proudly got their ISO 9001 certification, which allowed them to scale their business, attract more clients, and exploit their resources efficiently.

  1. The software and the models that could be built were highly complex because there was no limitation about the objects included in the model or how they combined.

  2. Find the way to determine if the test results were correct. It wasn’t possible to test every combination because the software allowed millions of different models.

 Manual functional testing
The strategy consisted of isolating the characteristics (production capacity, construction cost, consumption, fixed costs, variable costs depending on production) to evaluate the system’s results separately. In this way, it was easier for developers to correct the faulty functionalities. We documented all test cases, their executions, and the corresponding results.

We made a map by modules, making it possible to size the system and divide it by functionalities and aims. We ranked the test cases by priority and testing needs. By doing this, we allowed the client to know the quality of the isolated functionalities to be tested, and the developement team could wok longside us responding to priorities.

We designed a QA plan, executed the cases, reported incidents, and documented all the work and results. We developed an automatic test script for the migration of clients from the old database to an updated one which unified customer segments. Once the migration was completed, we developed a new automated test run to verify that the number of customers for each segment matched the expected results.

 Manual and automated testing

We designed test cases for each of the system's functionalities. To check all the functionalities, we looked for the necessary data and tested each client's type.

The complexity of the system was that it was not possible to create fictitious clients for the tests. We resolved this issue by working with another company's system which enabled us to test the web capabilities from the viewpoint of different end users with their specific needs and characteristics.

Self-management portal: look & feel redesign.

  1. Understand and ensure all funcionalities worked as expected.

  2. Eliminate friction created by ux design to provide the most intuitive flow for end users.

We arrived at the begining of the project, and we had to ensure all functionalities were thoroughly tested prior to publishing the website.
